PROSPECT CAPITAL CORP is a closed-end investment company and BDC that primarily lends to and invests in middle-market, privately held companies. It offers senior and secured first‑lien and second‑lien loans, convertible and unsecured debt, preferred and common equity, equity‑linked securities, warrants, and select real estate and public company investments. The company is externally managed by Prospect Capital Management with administrative services provided by Prospect Administration and provides managerial assistance to portfolio companies. It focuses principally on U.S. middle‑market companies while also opportunistically investing in broadly‑traded public and non‑U.S. issuers through direct origination relationships with private equity sponsors, intermediaries and management teams.
