Recently Adopted Accounting Standards
In November 2023, the FASB issued ASU No. 2023-07, "Segment Reporting (Topic 280): Improvements to Reportable Segment Disclosures." This ASU improves financial reporting by requiring disclosure of incremental segment information. The new guidance is effective for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2023, and interim periods within fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2024. Early adoption is permitted. During the year ended April 30, 2025, we adopted ASU 2023-07. We don't believe our adoption of ASU 2023-07 had a material impact on our consolidated financial statements and disclosures, however, we updated note 15 - Segment Reporting to disclose that our CODM uses consolidated net income to set budgets, evaluate margins, review actual results and in deciding whether to reinvest profits and cash flows into our business, repurchase our stock, pursue acquisitions, or make any other capital management decisions. Consolidated net income is the measure of segment profit most consistent with U.S. GAAP that is regularly reviewed by the CODM to allocate resources and assess performance. Significant segment level expense information provided to the CODM is consistent with our consolidated statements of operations, as presented on the accompanying consolidated statements of operations. on our consolidated financial statements and disclosures.
Recently Issued Accounting Standards
In November 2024, the Financial Accounting Standards Board ("FASB") issued Accounting Standards Update ("ASU") No. 2024-03, Income Statement - Reporting Comprehensive Income - Expense Disaggregation Disclosures (Subtopic 220-40): Disaggregation of Income Statement Expenses ("ASU 2024-03), which requires disaggregation disclosures on an annual or interim basis, in the notes to the financial statements, of certain categories of expenses that are included in expense line items on the face of the statement of operations. ASU 2024-03 is effective for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2026, and interim periods within annual reporting periods beginning after December 15, 2027 and should be applied prospectively, with the option to apply the standard retrospectively. We are currently evaluating the impact of adopting this ASU 2024-03 on our consolidated financial statements and disclosures.
In December 2023, the Financial Accounting Standards Board ("FASB") issued Accounting Standards Update ("ASU") No. 2023-09, Income Taxes (Topic 740): Improvements to Income Tax Disclosures ("ASU 2023-09"), which improves the transparency of income tax disclosures by requiring companies to (1) disclose consistent categories and greater disaggregation of information in the effective rate reconciliation and (2) provide information on income taxes paid disaggregated by jurisdiction. ASU 2023-09 is effective for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2024, although early adoption is permitted. The guidance should be applied on a prospective basis with the option to apply the standard retrospectively.
